Kolkata: Some roads in central Kolkata, particularly the stretch between RCTC (Race Course) and Shahid Minar, are may remain blocked for some time on Sunday evening for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in the city. Modi, who will address a rally at Shahid Minar, in his third round of campaigning for BJP candidates in West Bengal, is expected to land at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in his special aircraft between 1pm and 2 pm.
"From the airport,The PM will board a helicopter for Krishnagar, where he will address his first public meeting. The meeting is expected to start at 3 pm. but we are keeping our fingers crossed. It is likely that the Modi may reach Krishnagar by 3 pm and From there he will leave for Kolkata in an Indian Air Force helicopter and will land on the RCTC helipad by 4.30 pm," a BJP leader said.
Modi's helicopter will have to take off from RCTC well before dark and roads between Shahid Minar and RCTC the venue of his meeting in Kolkata - and the helipad are expected to remain cordoned even after 5 pm. Traffic on Red Road and Hospital Road may be affected.
