Durgapur: A 29-year-old BJP supporter, Mantulal Guha was allegedly killed by some Trinamool supporters at Raidanga under Coke Oven police station in Durgapur on Wednesday night. Mantulal Guha (29), brother of a BJP polling agent has been killed allegedly by trinamul supporters at Raidanga under Coke Oven Police Station area in Durgapur here last night.
His family at Sukantapally in Durgapur alleged that Mantulal was on his way back has been returning back to his house from a ‘mela' seeng Gajan Mela in Nadiha when on the way some people assualted him and he died on the spot.
His elder brother Mintu Lal Guha alleged that the trinamul congress has been threatening him as he has been the polling agent of BJP in ward number 43. In order to take revenge against me they have killed by brother, he alleged.
Coke Oven police picked up his dead body and sent to Durgapur Sub Divisional Hospital where he has been pronounced brought dead. There has been multiple external injuries on his head and prima facie it seems that he has been beaten by blunt weapons like lathi or rods in his head.
So far Coke Oven Police has not arrested any body in this connection and started an unnatural death (UD) case. Though the BJP has not oficially lodged any complaint at Coke Oven Police Station. BJP leader Kalyan Dubey, alleged that after the 11 April polls the rulling party in sheer frustration of loosing the seats has been attacking the BJP supporters here.
Trinamul congress leader, Sunil Chatterjee refuted the allegations and claim that the BJP has been trying to malign their image. No trinamul congress supporter has been involved in any clash at Raidanga, he claimed.
In Pandaveswar police has arrested five trinamul congress supporters allegedly for looting and setting houses of CPM supporters. The CPM has brought a huge protest rally in Pandaveswar in which the adivasis took part with bows and arrows.
