Body count 12 this poll season

Post-poll violence has left two more dead in Burdwan's Khondoghosh on Friday. The killings of a CPM polling agent and the father of another poll agent of the same party take the death toll to 12 since March 4, the day the election dates were announced.
The break-up of the body count stands at eight Trinamool workers and four CPM supporters. The poll violence figures have kept the cops on toes as three more rounds of voting are left in key constituencies of Kolkata, Salt Lake and districts like North 24-Parganas, Howrah and Hooghly.
Meanwhile, former CPM minister Bankim Ghosh and octogenarian former party MLA Nani Malakar were left bleeding when alleged Trianmool goons attacked them barely 1 km from Haringhata police station in Nadia on Friday morning.Reacting to Friday's post-poll violence, CPM state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra said, “As the days progress, the Trinamool Congress is getting more desperate and anxious. They are attacking our supporters at will. They fear losing power. But we will resist them. We have been doing so and will continue to fight them.“
When the Trinamool workers fell victim to election violence, party supremo Mamata Banerjee questioned EC on how blood of her partymen could spill under its guard. Senior party leader Mukul Roy had threa tened EC that they would take the bodies of partymen killed in violence to the doorstep of the commission.
The last among the eight Trinamool victims of poll violence was Joydeb Jana, who was killed in Sabong on April 9. In the last three days, four CPM supporters were allegedly murdered by their political rivals. They are Nur Islam Mistri of Haroa, Tahidul Mondal of Domkal and the Khondoghosh victims Dukhiram Dale and Sheikh Fazal Haq.While Haque (50) was a CPM polling agent in booth number 108 of Khondoghosh assembly seat, 55-year-old Dukhiram was the father of Bijoy Dale, who was the party candidate's agent in adjoining booth number 107.
Families of both the victims lodged FIRs at Khondoghosh police station accusing sitting Trinamool MLA Nabin Chandra Bag and his associate Shamsul Alam Sahana of inciting the murders. Trinamool goons allegedly hurled bombs and fired at their kin at Lodna village in Khondoghosh. While Trinamool district president Uttam Sengupta claimed that his party is not involved in the incident, Burdwan SP Gourav Sharma said police have started an inves tigation. No one has been arrested yet.
At Nadia, former CPM minister Bankim Ghosh and party veteran Nani Malakar have been admitted to Kalyani's Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital with serious injuries after Friday's attack on them by an alleged Trinamool mob. The duo was meeting at Malakar's house near Haringhata police station.
The attack was triggered after Trinamool Haringhata strongman and Nadia zilla parishad functionary Chanchal Debnath was allegedly assaulted by CPM and Congress workers on Friday morning. CPM workers later lodged an FIR in Kalyani.A police source said 30 people have been detained so far.
