There was an attempt to loot an EVM from a polling booth at Sandeskhali Rampur Gabati FP school (booth no. 147) in Sandeshkhali, North 24-Parganas around 4.40 pm, allegedly by Trinamool men. There were few voters inside the booth at that time, when a score of youths arrived in eight motorcycles and barged into the booth. About a dozen tried to give false votes, but as it was resisted they turned furious.

They tried to carry away the EVM. There were two jawans at the gate who soon raised an alert and more force assembled who snatched away the EVM from the youths. Soon the youths clashed with the central force. The central force had to open fire to stop them from carrying away the EVM and force them out of the area. However police said that none was injured in the firing as the central force had fired in the air.
