Parties promising prohibition has set the tone for the coming election, and folk singer Kovan has it to a tune and accused AIADMK chief minister Jayalalithaa of ‘cheating voters’. On Wednesday, the musician, who has baited AIADMK before, was arrested along with 240 others in Trichy when he tried to a Tasmac office at Thuvakudi.
He was released later in the evening.
Kovan’s song Amma Bongu (Amma the cheat) was uploaded on the website Vinavu at noon on Wednesday. Sung in Chennai slang, it mocks Jayalalithaa’s decision to reduce working hours of Tasmac shops, while those who demanded shutting of liquor shops were arrested.
