DMK leader M K Stalin on Thursday slammed the ruling AIADMK government for clamping down protests against TASMAC outlets in Nolambur. The incident sparked tension after police lathi-charged the members of Makkal Athikaram, an NGO, leaving two persons injured.
In a statement, the DMK leader said, “The people of Tamil Nadu would teach a fitting lesson to the `atrocious' act of the government.
DMK, if voted to power after May 19, would introduce prohibition forthwith,“ Stalin said, questioning the rationale behind the AIADMK government's announcement that the party would bring in total prohibition in a phased manner.
MDMK leader Vaiko also said the government should release all the protesters.
