CHENNAI: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday conceded defeat in states, including Tamil Nadu, where the Congress had contested the assembly elections.
In Tamil Nadu, the Congress allied with DMK.
Rahul Gandhi tweeted from @OfficeOfRG, "We accept the verdict of people with humility. My best wishes to the parties that have won the elections."
He thanked Congress workers for "their effort during these elections" and tweeted, "We will work harder till we win the confidence & trust of people."
The official Twitter handle of Tamil Nadu Congress -- @TN_PCC -- hasn't been updated since May 16.
Election was held in the state on May 16.
DMK's Twitter handle @arivalayam put only three tweets since morning, which saw poor response with only a handful of retweets. DMK's youth wing leader M K Stalin @mkstalin also remained silent on Twitter.
