‘Dynastic rule is against principles of democracy’
CHENNAI: Stating that dynastic rule is against the principles of democracy, AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa on Thursday asked party cadres to strive for the victory of candidates in all the 234 assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu contesting on the party’s two-leaves symbol.
In a statement meant to pep up the party cadres, Jayalalithaa said there were some people in the state who were trying to wean away power for themselves and their family. “To save Tamil Nadu from these people and to ensure the continuation of the good governance of the AIADMK government, we need to win in all the seats in the coming assembly election,” said the chief minister.
“Dynastic rule is against the principles of democracy. A single family holding power within themselves is against the principle of equality for all,” she said without naming any party or individual. She said only if all got a chance, new ideas would come forth, bringing more welfare measures.
“Trained by AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran, I am steadfast in giving a chance to all, uplifting the downtrodden, and providing all-round growth. As part of this, the AIADMK government has implemented several schemes and all of them are historic,” she said.
Listing out the welfare measures rolled out in the last five years, the AIADMK chief said, “I have been fulfilling all development schemes with a vision on the future. For all these to continue, we must win in all the constituencies. Explain the welfare schemes of your sister to the people”.
Jayalalithaa said: “To ensure continuation of such schemes and for the growth of democratic qualities of equal opportunities, we should amass victories.” The cadres should work with the resolve of “party is bigger than the individual and the victory of the party is our victory.”
She urged them to work with full energy, assuming that “your dear sister is contesting in all the 234 constituencies of the state.”
