Techies pick Pinarayi over Achuthanandan as CM, 91.5% to cast vote

Most employees in Technopark will be casting their votes this election as per a survey conducted by Technoparktoday, an online portal based in Technopark. Around 60.2% techies said that the LDF will come to power, while 23.8% supported the UDF and 16% the BJP. Majority of techies - 52.3% - said that they don't expect BJP to open an account this time.

Thiruvananthapuram: Most employees in Technopark will be casting their votes this election as per a survey conducted by Technoparktoday, an online portal based in Technopark. The survey has found that 91.5% of the employees will cast vote this election. Interestingly, only 63% had expressed willingness to vote when a similar survey was held ahead of the assembly elections in 2011.

Around 60.2% techies said that the LDF will come to power, while 23.8% supported the UDF and 16% the BJP. Majority of techies - 52.3% - said that they don't expect BJP to open an account this time.
CPM's chief minister aspirant Pinarayi Vijayan won the highest number of votes for the question "Who is your CM choice?". While Pinarayi got the support of 25.6%, V S Achuthanandan was backed by 19.7%. Chief minister Oommen Chandy was favoured by 17.8%. O Rajagopal got more support (11.7 %) than CPM leader T M Thomas Isaac (11.1%) and 8.6% preferred BJP state president Kummanam Rajashekharan. V M Sudheeran and Ramesh Chennithala got 3.3% and 2.2% support respectively.
Around 65.8% of the respondents felt that there won't be any Modi effect in this election, while 82% of them said that scams during the UDF government's tenure will affect its poll prospect.
On the major topics of discussion, 56.4% said corruption. Development, communalism, environment degradation, and waste management were the other major issues.
The survey assumes some importance as 35.5% of the Technopark employees have shifted to constituencies near to Technopark or Thiruvananthapuram from their home towns. Only 2.2% are yet to get enrolled into voters list. Around 62.3% techies said that they will go to their native places to cast vote.
