Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Oommen Chandy has denied reports that the state is facing a financial problem."There is no financial crunch and on March 31, the state had a surplus of Rs 1,643 crore," said Chandy , in a statement issued here. "The Reserve Bank has endorsed this and it denotes perfect financial management by the UDF government. There were reports that fund crunch had affected the disbursement of salaries and pensions.
This is not true," he said.
The chief minister added that the treasury functioned properly and the disbursement of salaries, welfare pensions, non-plan fund of universities happened without much problems. The government had not restricted the distribution of these funds, he added.
Chandy said that salaries and pensions were being disbursed with RBI monitoring everything. "With the introduction of online transaction there was a delay in certain places in giving salaries. The technical glitches were resolved. The finance secretary is monitoring the process and if anyone has any complaint, regarding the delay in payment, heshe can directly approach the finance secretary ," Chandy said.
