Thiruvananthapuram: Former pacer S Sreesanth said on Sunday that he would pursue politics aggressively and it won't signal the end of his cricketing dreams. He added that he was learning lessons quickly and would soon come up with solutions to the issues troubling the Thiruvananthapuram central assembly constituency from where he is contesting this time.
"I want to attract youngsters to politics. There are many who don't even know who is ruling the country," he said after attending the BJP's election slogan and logo launch ceremony.
He brushed aside questions whether politics was a short cut to return to his cricketing career. "I am hopeful of a comeback. The game is not a hindrance to politics," he added. Sreesanth said there was nothing wrong in the party's decision to field him in Thiruvananthapuram, instead of Ernakulam or Tripunithura.
"I used to frequent this town as an under-19 team member. I have a house in the city," he said. Sreesanth reached the city from New Delhi on Sunday morning, after declaration of candidature by the central leadership on Saturday.
Slogan, logo release
BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan released the election slogan and logo of the party in the presence of senior leaders and Sreesanth. The BJP slogan is Vazhimuttiya Keralam. Vazhikattan BJP'' (Kerala at a crossroads. BJP to show the way). "The election campaign would be centred on this slogan. It signifies the exploitation carried out by the LDF and UDF fronts. It promises an alternative to people who are fed up with the politics of both fronts," Kummanam said.
