ALAPPUZHA: The election wing has made elaborate arrangements for counting of votes in the district.
The district has two counting centers for its nine assembly constituencies. The votes of Aroor, Cherthala, Alappuzha, Ambalappuzha and Kuttanad constituencies will be counted at Government HSS Thiruvambady. The votes from Haripad, Kayamkulam, Mavelikkara and Chengannur constituencies will be counted at SD College, Kalarkode.
"The postal ballots will be counted first, then the votes polled in the electronic voting machine will be done," said district presiding officer R Girija.

Special table will be arranged for counting of postal ballots in all the constituencies. The EC appointed micro-observers, counting supervisors and counting assistants at each table.
The EC informed that only the people having valid identity cards of the commission will be allowed to enter inside the counting centers. The EC distributed identity cards to each agent of each candidate in all tables. The counting will be completed by 12noon, said an official.
