ALAPUZZHA: Former cooperation minister and Ambalappuzha LDF candidate G. Sudhakaran said that he has never peeped into the voting enclosure when opposition leader V.S. Achuthanandan, was casting his vote on Monday in the assembly polls.
Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, Sudhakaran said he has not made any mistakes and has not violated the code of conduct of Election Rules.
''V.S. Achuthanandan, his son Arunkumar and I have not made any legal violation during the polls. It was the police and the state government that violated the rules. They did not exercise any control and allowed people to enter the polling booths. I am the LDF candidate of Ambalappuzha constituency and V.S. came from Palakkad for the purpose of casting votes for me. After Achuthanandan's speech in my constituency, the support I received from people, doubled. I have a strong relationship with V.S.’’ said G. Sudhakaran.
Sudhakaran said that he will legally handle the allegations faced by him because of this connection. He also stated that CPM’s newspaper `Deshabhimani’ is portraying him in an unfavourable light and the media are deliberately attacking him.
It was Alappuzha District Congress Committee (DCC) which lodged a complaint with the election commission against Ambalappuzha LDF candidate G. Sudhakaran alleging that he peeped into the voting enclosure while opposition leader V.S. Achuthanadan was casting his vote. DCC president Shukkoor said that he lodged the complaint along with a video footage of V.S. casting votes at Government HSS at Paravoor in Ambalappuzha constituency.
