Guwahati: In the age of fast-paced political campaigns, Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar of CPM is travelling by train on Saturday night to address election campaigns in lower Assam.
Sarkar will board the Awadh Assam Express from Guwahati at 9 pm on Saturday to reach Bongaigaon.
The choice to take a train was a conscious one. "The Tripura CM has set an example.
At a time when leaders of other political parties are spending crores, the CPM leader decided not to waste resources and decided to travel by train," said Suprakash Talukdar, state secretarial member of the CPM.
Sarkar will address three election rallies at Bijni, Sorbhog and Barpeta Road on Sunday. He will campaign at Nalbari and Rangiya on Monday.
