GUWAHATI: A unique dance campaign, launched by the student brigade on the city streets for newly floated Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), has been lapped up by the voters of Guwahati, who are bored by a series of stereotype political meetings ahead of the second phase election in Assam scheduled on April 11.
LDP, led by former BJP national executive member and ex-IT cell national convener of the saffron party Prodyut Bora, is making all possible efforts to attract new voters.
It will be crucial for Bora and his party.
"Usual political meetings, held in a corner, cannot draw public attention towards parties. But, the dance campaign launched by the youngsters for LDP has come to the notice of almost every commuter on the roads. We are elated at the enthusiasm,"said LDP Yuva Morcha secretary Iftikar Ahmed Hazarika.
The troupe is staging 10 shows a day on 10 different routes of the city is enthralling the audiences with their theme song - 'Hera Bhai Bhoni, Aahil LDP....' (Hello brothers and sister.... LDP has arrived).
Iftikar, who is monitoring the dance campaign closely, has said LDP is committed to give a new dimension to the state by protecting Assam's identity and promoting its vivid culture.
"We are not criticizing others but marching ahead on a positive note. The dance troupe wants to appeal people to vote for our party by letting them know the objectives of the party through dance and music," said an optimistic Iftikar just after winding up Thursday's campaign.
While the party is hopeful of attracting voters of Guwahati through dance, the college students are strengthening the campaign.
"People on the busy city streets are supporting us a lot. Everywhere, they gather around us to see the performance. For young students like us it is a big encouragement," said Satyajit Dutta, a dancer of the troupe and an undergraduate student from Bahona College of Jorhat.
