Ajmal puts blame on price rise to Congress and BJP
GUWAHATI: Billionaire perfume baron and chief of All India United Democratic Front, Badruddin Ajmal on Monday blamed both the BJP government at the centre and the Congress government in Assam for the escalation of prices of essential commodities after the assembly polls.
Ajmal, who is an MP from Dhubri, said that the state is in the grip of sudden hike in prices of essential commodities soon after the assembly polls are over.
"Both the BJP at the centre and Congress government in the state are to be blamed for the price rise. Both the governments have done nothing to check the price rise even as people in the state are in great misery," Ajmal alleged.
Price rise was one of the major issues in the assembly polls which concluded on April 11. BJP, Congress, AIUDF and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) raised the pitch of their campaigns focusing on price rise. While the BJP blamed that it was the Congress government for failing to curb price rise, Congress put the blame on the centre alleging that price hike continued even after Narendra Modi came to power with a promise to stop it.
