Ekta kapoor, Sneha rajani and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari join hands to ensure their films 'Lipstick under my Burkha', 'Mubarakan' and 'Bareilly ki barfi' get solo opening weekends

Over the last decade, Bollywood has seen filmmakers and actors going out of their way to avert box-office clashes with other films and facilitate a solo release for their own. Last week, Shah Rukh Khan moved the release date of his Imtiaz Ali-directed romcom, 'Jab Harry Met Sejal', from August 11 to August 4, to avoid a face-off with the Akshay Kumar starrer, 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'.

Earlier this year, his 'Raees' had locked horns with Hrithik Roshan's home production 'Kaabil'. Earlier, Ekta Kapoor had moved the release of 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara!' which was on a collision course with Shah Rukh Khan's 'Chennai Express'.
Recently, three filmmakers -Ekta Kapoor, Sneha Rajani and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari -amicably worked out solo opening weekends for their respective films. "Now, Alankrita Shrivastava's 'Lipstick Under My Burkha', presented and distributed by Kapoor, will arrive a week earlier than its announced date of July 28 so Anees Bazmee's wedding-comedy 'Mubarakan', produced by Rajani, can have a smooth run," a source informed Mirror, adding that the duo goes back a long way and met two weeks ago to discuss strategy. "Since Ashwini's 'Bareilly Ki Barfi', also a romcom set in the North, was releasing on July 21, they decided to coordinate with her and her producer, Preeti Shahani. Ashwiny also agreed to postpone her film to the next available date of August 18."
Prakash Jha who is producing 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' was not present at the all-girls meeting, but was happy to accept their decision. "My film celebrates women and it is good to see more films being made by and about women. It is a sign of change. More women helming film projects should definitely change the landscape of the film industry," he exulted.
