UPSC ESE result 2025 declared, over 400 candidates selected: Direct link to download here
UPSC ESE result 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the final results of the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2025. The result is recommending 458 candidates for appointment to various Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ engineering services under the Central government. It is based on the written examination conducted in August 2025, followed by the Personality Test held during October and November.
The government had notified a total of 554 vacancies through the Engineering Services Examination 2025. These included 251 posts in Civil Engineering, 134 in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, 97 in Electrical Engineering, and 72 in Mechanical Engineering. The gap between notified vacancies and final recommendations indicates that several posts remain unfilled after the selection process.
Civil Engineering accounted for the highest number of recommendations, with 202 candidates selected. Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering followed with 116 candidates, while 79 candidates were recommended from the Electrical Engineering stream. Mechanical Engineering recorded 61 selections.
Of the total candidates recommended, 26 belong to the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category, underscoring the inclusion of reserved categories in the final merit list.
According to details released by the Commission, among the 458 recommended candidates, 168 belong to the General category, 50 to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 133 to Other Backward Classes (OBC), 68 to Scheduled Castes (SC), and 39 to Scheduled Tribes (ST). The Civil Engineering stream alone included 15 PwBD candidates across different disability categories.
The UPSC clarified that the candidature of 102 recommended candidates is provisional and subject to verification of eligibility conditions. In addition, the Commission has prepared a consolidated reserve list comprising 186 candidates across all four engineering disciplines. This list may be operated if required, in accordance with the Engineering Services Examination Rules, 2025.
Candidates selected through the ESE are appointed to key technical services, including the Indian Railways Service of Engineers, Indian Defence Service of Engineers, Central Water Engineering Service, Central Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Service, and the Border Roads Engineering Service.
