SSC CGL 2025: Post preference submission window opens today for Tier-II candidates
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will open the post preference submission window for candidates who appeared in the Tier-II stage of the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL) 2025 today, March 9, 2026. The facility to submit Option cum Preference for posts and departments will be available on the official website from today 6 PM to March 12, 2026, 6 PM.
Candidates who appeared in Tier-II of the SSC CGLE 2025 must log in to their account and submit their preferences within this period. This step is mandatory before the declaration of the final result.
Candidates can submit their preferences by logging in to the official SSC website ssc.gov.in. After logging in, they need to go to the “My Application” section and fill the Option cum Preference form for the posts and departments they want to be considered for, according to the official notice.
The form must be submitted by clicking the “Submit” button after selecting the desired preferences.
Important timeline
Candidates can change or revise their preferences only during this period. The last submitted option will be treated as the final choice by the commission.
SSC has clearly stated that candidates who do not submit their post preference within the given time will not be considered for the final merit list or final selection. The commission will not provide another opportunity after the deadline.
Any complaints or requests related to missing the preference submission window will not be accepted through post, fax, email, or any other mode.
Candidates belonging to the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category must carefully choose only those posts that are identified as suitable for their disability category.
According to the official notice, if a PwBD candidate selects a post that is not permitted for their disability category and gets selected for it, the concerned department may cancel the candidature.
Candidates are advised to check the corrigendum released on March 5, 2026, which provides updated details about disability categories allowed for different posts.
Before submitting preferences, candidates should read the SSC CGL 2025 examination notice and related corrigenda carefully. They must also ensure that they meet the physical and medical standards required for the posts they select, the official notice says.
If a candidate is selected for a post but later fails to meet the required physical or medical standards, their candidature may be cancelled by the concerned department.
The SSC CGL 2025 was conducted in multiple stages. The Tier-I examination was held in computer-based mode, and its result was declared on December 18, 2025 to shortlist candidates for the next stage.
The Tier-II examination was conducted from January 18 to January 20, 2026.
Candidates who appeared in Tier-II must now complete the post preference submission process within the given deadline to remain eligible for the final selection, according to the official notice.
