The State Examination Board of Gujarat has officially started the online application process for the Teacher Aptitude Test (Higher Secondary) 2026 examination from today, 10th February 2026. The examination aims to conduct the eligibility of the aspirations of candidates to become higher secondary teachers of registered government and private schools in Gujarat state.
Eligible applicants can submit their applications through the official OJAS portal before 19th February 2026. According to the notification regarding the backlog recruitment, the Preliminary Examination is tentatively scheduled to be held on 29th March 2026, while the Main Examination is to be held in May 2026.
Overview of SEB TAT (Higher Secondary) 2026The exam is an annual examination conducted by SEB, Gujarat. The purpose of conducting this exam is to prepare a merit list of eligible teaching candidates. The eligibility for this year's recruitment process is under Notification No. SEB/TAT-HS/2026/2042-2082. The applicants who qualify both exams are considered eligible.

Eligibility & Examination FeeApplying candidates must have the necessary qualifications prescribed by the Government of Gujarat State for Higher Secondary Teachers. Candidates in the final year of Post Graduation and B.Ed. course during the year 2025-26 may also apply provided proof is submitted prior to the selection process.
The examination fee for the candidates under the General category is Rs 500, and for SC/ST/SEBC/EWS/PH candidates, it is Rs 400. The mode of payment of the examination fee is online, and the fees shall not be refunded.
Exam pattern and selection processExamination consists of two stages-a Preliminary (MCQ-based) test and a Descriptive Mains examination. In the preliminary, the exam is for 200 marks, including General Studies and a Special Subject Test, with negative marking applicable. Candidates who qualify the cut-off marks would be shortlisted for the Mains, which is also for 200 marks.
