LUCKNOW: A Lucknow University student who topped MA Hindi exams in 2014 and bagged two gold medals for his performance was denied admission to PhD. The student, Gyanendra Mani Tripathi was shocked to see his name missing from the result list which was declared on December 26. Seeking justice, Tripathi on Monday submitted a written complaint to the vice-chancellor SB Nimse.

Tripathi secured 71% marks in post-graduation and at LU’s convocation ceremony in Janaury, he won two gold medals, one for best student in his department and another for securing highest marks in the MA (Hindi) course. A Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Tripathi qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) by securing 81.4% marks. As per LU’s rules for admissions to PhD, Tripathi was exempted from appearing in the PhD entrance test. He was shortlisted for the interview held on December 7.
A disappointed Tripathi now demands university authorities to reveal his score.
