Lucknow school closure extended till January 10 amid cold wave and dense fog: Timings changed for senior students
Lucknow schools will remain closed until January 10, 2026, as the city continues to experience a severe cold wave and dense fog, the District Magistrate has announced. Earlier, schools were scheduled to reopen on January 8, but the new order extends the closure for a few more days. The directive applies to all council schools, primary and upper primary schools, aided schools, schools recognized by all boards, Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls Schools, and other government and non-government aided schools running from pre-primary to class 8.
Students in classes 9 to 12 will now have their classes with new timings. Schools must run classes from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, giving students and teachers safer hours to travel during the dense fog and cold conditions. Authorities have also emphasized that all schools must strictly follow this order.
Parents and students are urged to take precautions during this period. While younger students stay home, older students will attend classes during safer hours to make sure learning continues without compromising safety.
