JEE Mains 2024 Mathematics Preparation: 5 Key Topics You Must Not Skip
JEE Mains 2024 Preparation: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2024 January session between January 24 and February 1. JEE Mains exam comprises two papers - Paper 1 is held for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs B.E/B.Tech. at IIITs, NITs, other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs), and institutions recognised by participating state governments.
JEE Main examination is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 is held for admission to B.Arch and B.Planning programmes in the country. To qualify the JEE Mains 2024 exam, mastering Mathematics is not just important, it's absolutely necessary. But with a vast syllabus, it's important to strategise your preparation.
So, where do you begin? While there's no one-size-fits-all list for JEE Mains Maths preparation, here are 5 important topics you should definitely prioritise and not skip:
1. Calculus: This forms the backbone of JEE Mains Math, carrying significant weight and appearing in various forms. Master differentiation (including chain rule, implicit differentiation, etc.) and integration (techniques like U-substitution, integration by parts, etc.) thoroughly.
2. Coordinate Geometry: This is another high-weightage area, testing your understanding of curves, lines, circles, conics, and their properties. Be comfortable with transformations, distance formula, equations of lines and circles, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola.
3. Algebra: Don't underestimate the power of a strong foundation in Algebra. Brush up on quadratic equations, inequalities, functions, logarithms, permutations and combinations, and complex numbers. These form the building blocks for solving many other problems.
4. Trigonometry: A well-understood Trigonometry arsenal can be your weapon for tackling numerous questions. Grasp concepts like sine, cosine, tangent, identities, trigonometric equations, and inverse trigonometric functions.
5. Probability: While seemingly less weightage compared to others, Probability often involves direct application of formulas and can fetch easy marks. Be thorough with basic probability concepts, conditional probability, Baye's theorem, and binomial theorem.
