IIT JEE Advanced exam on May 17: Check complete schedule here
IIT JEE Advanced exam dates 2026: IIT Roorkee has announced the schedule for the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2026. The entrance test will be conducted on May 17, 2026, Sunday. It will take place in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode across designated centres.
The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) is widely regarded as one of the most demanding entrance examinations in India. Every year, only the top candidates from the JEE Main examination qualify to appear for it.
Success in the examination opens the door to admission into undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs, including: Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Bachelor of Science (BS), Dual degree programmes such as BTech–MTech, and Integrated science and engineering courses.
The CBT format ensures a standardised testing environment across the country. Candidates will answer questions directly on computer terminals at their allotted examination centres.
As stated in the official timetable, the examination would be held in two mandatory papers on the same day. The papers will be on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and the students will be required to take both papers.
Paper 1: 09:00 AM – 12:00 PM IST
Paper 2: 02:30 PM – 05:30 PM IST
The two-paper model has been structured to evaluate more than just a level of conceptual competency; it evaluates analytical skills and problem-solving skills. The test will be conducted using computers throughout, as the examination is also still in transition to the digital forms of the test in the national entrance examination.
Candidates are advised to stay tuned to the official website to get the latest updates regarding the IIT JEE exams 2026.
