“I studied for just 6 hours a day,” says Ananya Trivedi, rank 2 holder in UPPSC PCS 2024
The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has declared the final results of the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (PCS) Examination 2024 on the official website, uppsc.up.nic.in. A total of 932 candidates have been recommended for appointment against 947 vacancies across 24 posts. The result follows a multi-stage selection process that tested candidates rigorously. Earlier, the PCS Mains result, announced on February 4, 2026, had shortlisted 2,719 candidates for the interview round. The interviews were conducted between February 26 and March 23, during which 21 candidates remained absent. The final merit list has been prepared based on candidates’ combined performance in the written examination and interviews.
Among the top achievers, Ananya Trivedi has secured the second rank. Her extraordinary feat in the exam reflects a journey moulded by discipline and clarity of purpose. Speaking to ANI, she said, "I have scored 2nd rank in UP PCS, 2024. I would like to give the credit to my mother. My uncle has given me a lot of personalised guidance.
Everyone possesses their own mantra to success; for Ananya, it was consistency. She told ANI, "I prepared with consistency. I will also give UPSC exams in future. I did my preparation at home only." Along with consistency, motivation also plays a crucial role. She mentioned that "one can get disappointed only when either they lack an internal motivation or the external situations are not favourable. In that case, you need a mentor who could guide you well."
Trivedi’s success hinges on the method she followed more than the rank she achieved. In a system that is often obsessed with intense competition and unpredictability, her emphasis on consistency over long study hours is a prevailing narrative of relentless competition.

Number of hours is not the real ingredient of success
Maybe it is always quality over quantity. Ananya's success story is a testament to the saying. "I used to study for 6 hours only, but 3 hours before the Mains exam, I used to study for 8 to 10 hours," she told ANI in an interview.Beyond the rank: A story of consistency
