AHMEDABAD: Rajshekhar Das from the city topped the 10th All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) in Gujarat , securing 66th position in the country. The results were declared on Sunday. Even the second and the third toppers in the state — Nishad Shah and Raj Doshi — are from the city. They secured 137th and 144th ranks respectively.
More than 5,000 students cracked the exam from the state this time.
Most of the students who had cracked IIT-Joint Entrance Exams, secured berth in AIEEE as well.
Unlike, IIT-JEE, where Gujarat board students dominated the merit list, in AIEEE, both CBSE and Gujarat board students have secured berths.
No less than 25,000 students from all over the state had appeared for the exam from 41 centres in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar on May 1 amidst inordinate delay in exams due to the news of paper leak.
Talking to TOI on Sunday, state second ranker Nishad Shah said, "My target was IIT and in the process I secured good rank in AIEEE. I am planning to take admission in IIT-Chennai in computer engineering."
Doshi, state third ranker pointed out, "I had worked hard under the able guidance of my educators to shape my dream and the results are my rewards. It was the dedicated study of seven hours a day that ensured my success." Alok Shah, who secured sixth rank in state, said, "IIT was in my mind for the past two years and I am all set to take admission in IIT-Bombay in aerospace engineering."
