CISCE Board cancels ICSE, ISC compartment examinations; new re-evaluation scheme to be introduced in 2024
Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has cancelled the compartment tests for the Class 12 board exams 2024.
The CISCE released a notification stating, 'Introduction of Re-evaluation of answer scripts and discontinuation of Compartment Examination from Year 2024 Examination onwards'.
The notification clarifies that the process of 're-evaluation of answer scripts' will be introduced, along with the already existing method of 'rechecking of answer scripts'.
The notice reads, "CISCE is pleased to inform you that as per the decision taken by the Executive Committee at its Meeting held on 7th December 2023, there will be a change in the procedure of enquiries concerning examination results from the Examination Year 2024 onwards. In keeping with the progressive thrust given by the NEP 2020, CISCE has decided to introduce re-evaluation of answer scripts, in addition to the existing recheck of answer scripts, after the declaration of Results."
The CISCE will completely discontinue the Compartment Examination scheme from examination year 2024. Improvement exam will be made available to candidates only for two subjects from the exam year 2024.
"It may please be noted that the Compartment Examination will be discontinued from the Examination Year 2024 onwards. Additionally, kindly note, the candidates will be able to take the Improvement Examination in a maximum of two subjects from Examination Year 2024 onwards. For detailed information regarding the above-mentioned changes, kindly refer to the Annexures attached herewith.", the notice reads.

Understanding the re-evaluation scheme
If candidates are dissatisfied with the results of their rechecked subjects, they have the option to apply for the re-evaluation of their answer scripts for those specific subjects. The process involves submitting an online application, which must be done within 24 hours of the specified notification on the CISCE website (www.cisce.org).
For each re-evaluation request, candidates or their schools need to pay a fee of Rs. 1,500 per subject/paper online, as determined by CISCE. It's important to note that these charges are non-refundable. The results of all re-evaluation requests received by CISCE will be collectively declared within three weeks on the CISCE website.
The actual re-evaluation of the answer scripts will be conducted by a qualified individual appointed by the Chief Executive and Secretary of CISCE. Once the subject expert completes the re-evaluation, the resulting marks, whether increased or decreased, will be considered as the final marks.
