CBSE Class 10 Second Board Result 2026 Live Updates: Over 6.7 lakh improvement and compartment candidates await Phase 2 scorecards

CBSE Class 10 Second Board Result 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to announce the Class 10 Second Board Examination Result 2026 shortly. However, the board has not yet issued an official confirmation regarding the date and time of the declaration. Students who appeared for the Phase 2 examinations will be able to access their scorecards through official result portals as well as digital platforms once the result link is activated.

The second board examination was conducted from May 15, 2026 to May 21, 2026 under the newly introduced two-exam system for Class 10 students. The initiative was implemented to provide candidates with another opportunity to improve their academic performance within the same academic session. It also allowed eligible compartment candidates to appear without waiting for the next academic year.

Large number of students opted for improvement exams
According to the details available, around 6.7 lakh applications were received for the CBSE Class 10 Phase 2 examinations. A substantial portion of these applications came from students seeking to improve their scores obtained in the first board examination.

More than 5.25 lakh students registered under the improvement category, making it the largest segment of applicants. In addition, over 85,000 students applied for compartment examinations. The figures indicate significant participation in the second examination cycle introduced by CBSE for the current academic year.

Science emerged as the most preferred subject
Among the various subjects offered in the second board examination, Science recorded the highest participation. Mathematics and Social Science followed closely among the subjects chosen by students for score improvement and compartment appearances.

Apart from core academic subjects, a considerable number of candidates also opted for regional and foreign languages. Meanwhile, specialised subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, Tourism, Music and Painting witnessed comparatively lower enrolment during the examination cycle.

Multiple platforms to host result access
After the declaration of results, students will be able to check their marks through the official CBSE result websites, including cbseresults.nic.in, results.cbse.nic.in and cbse.gov.in. The board will also make digital scorecards available through DigiLocker and the UMANG application.

The digital documents available through these platforms can be downloaded and used for academic verification purposes. Students are advised to keep their Roll Number, School Number and Admit Card ID ready to avoid delays while accessing the result. Certain platforms may also require additional credentials such as date of birth and a security PIN.

Marksheet to contain detailed academic information
The provisional marksheet released online is expected to contain the student's name, parents' names, school details, roll number, date of birth, subject codes, subject-wise marks, grades, total marks and qualifying status.

CBSE follows a nine-point grading system for Class 10 examinations. The grades range from A1 to D2, while grade E indicates that a student is required to reappear or repeat the examination. The grading pattern is determined on the basis of the relative performance of candidates who successfully pass the examination.

Students must obtain at least 33 per cent marks to pass a subject. Since most theory papers carry 80 marks, securing approximately 27 marks in theory is considered the minimum requirement, subject to fulfilment of other assessment conditions.

Original certificates to be issued through schools
The online result will remain provisional in nature. Original marksheets and certificates will be distributed later through the respective schools. Students have been advised to carefully examine all entries on the digital marksheet and report any discrepancy to their schools or CBSE authorities for necessary correction.

Following the declaration of results, students will be able to use their updated scores for admission to Class 11 and other academic processes. Digitally verified documents available through authorised platforms can be used until original certificates are issued by schools.
