State to recruit 275 more assistant professors for medical colleges

The state government will recruit 274 specialists as associate professors in different medical colleges and hospitals in the state. Apart from teaching medical students, they can treat patients in the hospitals.

BHUBANESWAR: The state government will recruit 274 specialists as associate professors in different medical colleges and hospitals in the state. Apart from teaching medical students, they can treat patients in the hospitals.
The state government has appointed 249 assistant professors in 23 specialty departments of different medical colleges and hospitals this year to provide quality healthcare to people of the state under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).

Shalini Pandit, secretary of health and family welfare department, said the department has moved Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to expedite the process of recruitment of 274 assistant professors.
These associate professors will be engaged in the specialist departments including anaesthesiology, anatomy, biochemistry, ENT, FMT, general medicine, microbiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery, paediatrics, pathology, pharmacology, physiology, psychiatry, radio-diagnosis, community medicine, skin and venereal diseases, surgery, emergency medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation.
