Briefing rooms to breathtaking manoeuvres: How Sarang team showcased India’s air power at Singapore Airshow

NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force participated in the Singapore Airshow 2026, showcasing its aerial capabilities with participation of the Sarang Helicopter Display Team. The team flew the indigenously developed Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv during the event.

The biennial airshow is being held at the Changi Exhibition Centre from February 3 to 8 and is a prominent Asia’s aerospace and defence exhibition. This year’s show includes flying displays by four teams and a static display of 37 aircraft.




The Sarang Helicopter Display Team opened its performance with an “I” formation flypast, saluting India. The display then moved into a series of close-formation manoeuvres, with the helicopters executing coordinated vertical and horizontal cross-overs. During the trade-visitor display, two Sarang helicopters traced a heart shape in the sky over Singapore, prompting applause from spectators at the venue.

Sarang is the world’s only four-helicopter military display team. The name “Sarang,” which means peacock in Sanskrit, reflects the team’s distinctive display style.

The team made its international debut at the Asian Aerospace Show in Singapore in 2004 and has since flown more than 1,200 displays at over 390 venues worldwide, including appearances at previous editions of the Singapore Airshow.

Sarang flies the indigenously designed and developed Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), built by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The ALH Mk I variant is used for the team’s synchronised aerobatics and close-formation flying during display performances.
