‘Mission to sink navy’: US Central Command shares video of strike on Iranian drone carrier- watch
US Central Command on Friday shared a video of its strike on an Iranian drone carrier, as the war in the Middle East continues following joint US and Israeli attacks that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,
Captioning the post it said: “US forces aren't holding back on the mission to sink the entire Iranian Navy. Today, an Iranian drone carrier, roughly the size of a WWII aircraft carrier, was struck and is now on fire.”
Earlier, Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of US Central Command, told reporters during a Thursday press conference that the vessel was roughly the size of a World War II aircraft carrier. “As we speak, it’s on fire,” he said.
Cooper said US military strikes against the Iranian navy have intensified. According to him, more than 30 Iranian warships have now been sunk or destroyed.
He added that Iran’s attacks have slowed down. Ballistic missile attacks have decreased by 90 per cent, while drone strikes have dropped by 83 per cent since the conflict began. “Having said this, we remain vigilant,” Cooper told reporters.
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, who stood alongside Cooper, said the level of US firepower over Iran was expected to “surge dramatically”.
The United States and Israel have continued to strike targets inside Iran, while Iran has responded by targeting US interests in the region and Israel with swarms of drones and ballistic missiles.
