MUMBAI: Dr Anant Joshi, the Indian cricket board''s official doctor, said that Sachin Tendulkar''s left elbow was no longer in great pain and that it was up to the batsman to decide when to resume competitive cricket.
"I checked Sachin today," Dr Joshi told TNN here on Friday. "He has improved. So much so, it is difficult to localise the pain in his elbow.
The case has ceased to be objective and is now subjective. It is up to him to decide his return."
Tendulkar has been suffering from tennis elbow for almost seven weeks.
Dr Joshi said that the batting maestro had started practising with rubber and tennis balls and a lighter bat. He could also undertake any other cricketing or fitness activity.
"Andrew (Leipus, Indian team physio) has given him a programme, so the strength is back in his arm," Dr Joshi said.
"I will check him every fourth or fifth day. It is a question of him feeling comfortable about playing again."
