VADODARA: The IPCL ground, Vadodara, venue of the fifth One-day International between India and West Indies, will resemble a fortress when the two teams clash on Monday. Preparations are on war-footing with the police taking absolutely no chance.Apart from incidents of crowd trouble which has marred the series, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad''s decision to go ahead with their function (dharam sabha) on Sunday at Godhra, defying the Election Commission and the district administration''s ban, has put the local police in a state of high alert.According to the locals, if there is any untoward incident in Godhra (72 kms from Vadodara), police fear a reaction to it in this communally-sensitive place, which was one of the worst-affected during the recent riots. As reported earlier, the authorities have made elaborate security arrangements including close circuit TVs and fishing nets to monitor the crowd. Meanwhile, Kiran More, for whom it will be his first major assignment in the role of Jt. hony. secretary, BCA, was both excited and nervous at the huge responsibility."It is very challenging task. We have done our best to make it a success. Only problem is we don''t have a proper stadium but the ground is beautiful with a lovely outfield. I am sure both the teams will enjoy playing on it. We have had great support from the IPCL and Reliance," said More.
