MNP: How to port your existing mobile number to Reliance Jio
JioAs the dust settles in on the revolution flagged off by chairman Mukesh Ambani at the Reliance Industries’ annual general meeting (AGM) in Mumbai on September 1, 2016 through Jio, many of you might be interested in knowing how to port in your existing mobile number to the network.
Trade pundits expect Reliance Digital Xpress and Reliance Digital Xpress mini stores to be bombarded with requests from many subscribers to port out of their existing networks into Jio. Here’s a quick guide on how to port and log in to India’s newest telecom sensation:
• As a part of the Free Welcome Offer, to port in to Jio, you need to send the following text message – PORT followed by your 10-digit mobile number to TRAI’s central number for mobile number portability – 1900.
• Download the ‘MyJio’ app from Google’s PlayStore (since the SIM can as of now be activated only from a selected list of Android-based mobile handsets) and generate an offer code through the app.
• Walk in to any Preferred Jio, Reliance Digital Xpress, Reliance Digital Xpress mini, or prominent multi-brand Jio stores with the port out code and your Free Welcome Offer code along with your mobile handset.
• You would also need to submit a copy of any of your identity and address proofs viz. Voter Id Card, Passport, Aadhaar Card along with a couple of passport-sized photographs for obtaining your Jio SIM card.
Earlier this week, the company also lifted curtains on various prepaid plans available to users on the network. The tariff plans range from Rs 19, all the way up to Rs 4,999 and offer a variety of services including free voice calls, different variations of free 4G data. The plans also include other value-added services.
