In the last week alone, they struck in two houses, he said.
"Harish, Chandra Sekhar, and Atchutharao used to stay together in Narsipatnam and were involved in ganja smuggling. Harish developed intimacy with Mamata when she had visited Narsipatnam for a couple of weeks. Since then, both had been living together despite Mamata being married and having two children," Khan said, adding that when their smuggling business suffered losses, Mamata came up with the idea of breaking into her grandfather's house in Dannanapeta of Vizianagaram district on September 1 which they did and fled with a gold chain.
"Within three days of the first crime, they planned to break into the house of Mamata's friend E Venkata Lakshmi. The gang struck at the house at Simhagiri Colony in Pendurthi in the afternoon and fled with gold chains, rings, ear studs and bangles," Khan said.
