Visakhapatnam Steel Plant sale stir completes 500 days

VISAKHAPATNAM: Marking 500 days of the agitation against the proposed privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), members of the Visakha Ukku Parirakshana Porata Committee and trade unions organised a bike rally, protest and public meeting on Sunday.

A larger number of protesters took part in a bike rally from VSP to Kurmannapalem. Later, they reached DRM Office Junction in Vizag, from where they walked to the Gandhi Statue near GVMC office, the location of a massive protest. They alleged that the VSP was pushed into losses. “The Union government has remained adamant. We will intensify our agitation in the coming days and BJP leaders will face protests during their visit to Vizag,” aunion leader said.
