VISAKHAPATNAM: The
Vizag Steel Plant
(
VSP
) is now setting up a 1,000-bed Covid Care Hospital in Steel Township at Kurmannapalem.
For the first time, VSP is using all its internal resources and available facilities in its premises to tackle the surge of second wave of Covid-19.
The Fabrication work for beds for Covid Care Hospital is going on at the Utility Equipment Repair Shop (UERS) inside the steel plant premises.
All the necessary material procurement and arrangements to facilitate the clinical delivery of medical oxygen near the patient bed are being expedited.
Further in phased manner various community halls and public halls or spaces would be converted into hospital wards for treatment of Covid patients.
All the wards of Visakha Steel General Hospital, which has more than 110 beds, are being converted into Covid wards, barring one for non-Covid emergency cases, the steel plant authorities officially announced.
Plant supplied 2,200 tones of Liquid Medical Oxygen
to APThe steel plant has so far supplied more than 2,200 tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to Andhra Pradesh since April 13.
It has also supplied 100 tonnes of LMO to
Maharashtra on April 22. The plant is also extending its support to Karnataka as per the government's allocation plan.
