VISAKHAPATNAM: The
Vizianagaram district
administration is gearing up to hold the oldest
music festival in south
India and celebrate the 100th founder’s day of the Maharajah Music and Dance College, established in 1918.
The
Vizianagram Music and Dance festival
is conducted every year during the college’s annual day celebrations.
Speaking to TOI, principal of the college, B Anuradha Parasuram said, “The founder’s day celebrations will be held from February 3-5 at the college premises, which itself is a heritage monument and is being repaired at a cost of 1.5 crore. The renovation will be completed by January 25. Collector, M Hari JawaharLal and state HRD minister have met with us and taken stock of the preparations.”
Parasuram said, “We will have a three-day fest with both students and faculty performing. Invitations are being sent out to members in the state government. The HRD is promoting the event as a state festival.”
