Visakhapatnam: CBI registers disproportionate assets case against MES engineer
VISAKHAPATNAM: The central bureau of investigation (CBI) registered disproportionate assets to known sources of income case against an assistant engineer (QS and C) of Military Engineering Services (MES), Komaragiri Srirama Someswara Rao, presently working in Chief Engineer Office in Navy in the port city. The CBI officials found that Rs. 89,.12 lakh valued movable and immovable assets were acquired by the assistant engineer.
CBI officials on reliable information conducted searches and found that he amassed the wealth in between January 2011 to March 2019.

As per the information, Someswara Rao and his family members were in possession of movable and immovable assets to the tune of Rs. 5.13 lakh in the year 2011.
But he acquired Rs. 82.48 lakh worth movable and immovable properties in his name and in the name of his family members. Sources said that the engineer amassed the assets by allegedly involving wrong practices during the purchases of various equipment and also sanctioning of bills.
CBI officials registered a case against Someswara Rao and his wife K Padmavathi under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and under sections of 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) of same Act, (as amended in 2018) and Section109 of IPC.
