VISAKHAPATNAM: The structures of the memorial park of freedom fighter Alluri Seeta Rama Raju is gradually becoming dilapidated as concrete is falling down from the slab under the tombs of the Alluri and his follower Gam Gantam Dora. The state and central governments are planning to set up museums and other memorial structures of Alluri Seeta Rama Raju at various places including Lammasingi and Visakhapatnam city, but it has been forgetting the real places where the revolutionary Alluri fought with the Britishers. But the government authorities have been neglecting the memorial structures of Alluri’s armed struggle areas such as Mampa, Rajendrapalem in Koyyuru mandal, and Krishna Devi Peta in Golugonda mandals in Visakhapatnam districts. The Krishna Devi Peta Alluri Park is the only one among the Alluri memorial structures, attracting tourists. So the people’s representatives of the district should take action for the comprehensive development of the memorial park. The concrete from the ceiling of the tombs had fallen a couple of days ago. Even after that, the authorities have not taken any care, locals alleged.National Alluri Seeta Rama Raju Yuvajana Sangham founder president Padala Veerabhadra Rao demanded the government authorities to focus on it and make necessary arrangements for the facelift of the Alluri Park.
“The authorities are only painting the old structures but not focussing on the strength of the structures, which were constructed decades ago. Most of the structures have become dilapidated. Now, the tombs of Alluri and Gam Gantam Dora are in danger,” Veerabhadra Rao alleged. The government authorities should immediately interfere and take proper measures for new constructions. Since there is no monitoring on the old structures, it would not give any result if facelift was given to the old structures, says K Satyanarayana of KD Peta.
