Utkal Sanskrurika Samaj to organize Rath Yatra in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam is set to celebrate Rath Yatra on June 27, mirroring the festivities in Puri. Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj is organizing the event, featuring a procession of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra from Dasapalla Hills to Lawsons Bay Colony. The deities, rejuvenated after a quarantine period, will journey in a decorated chariot amidst devotional chants.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Coinciding with the world famous Rath Yatra at Sri Jagannath Dham Puri, Utkal Sanskrurika Samaj a premier socio-cultural organisation for Odias in Vizag city is celebrating Rath Yatra on Friday (June 27).The deities if Lord Jagannath ,Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will be taken out in a colorful decorated chariot from the temple at Dasapalla Hills near All India Radio to Sri Gundicha temple at Lawsons Bay Colony amidst chanting of Haribol and Sankirtan. The deities have got rejuvenated today called Naba Jauban Besha after convalescing for 14 days in quarantine called Anasara when they fellsick after bathing in Debasnana Poornima The deities will be taken to the chariot from the sanctum sanctorum of the temple in a ritual called Pahandi Bije. Then after sweeping of the platform by the designated Gajapati Sri JK Nayak president of the Sanaj, vice president of OSL group of companies the devotees will pull the chariot.It will pass through VUDA Children Park, AU Gate, Park Hotel and VUDA park to reach Gundicha temple at. Lawsons Bay Colony where the deities will be in sojourn till 5th July and return that day known as Bahuda Yatra.There will be Pooja Archana and offering of Odia ethinic savouries and Prasad sevan during the stay.
Marwadi Yuva Manch will provide drinking water to the devotees en route. Various artists will perform during the procession and Sankeertan deputed by the culture department Government of Odisha. General Secretary of the Samaj Binal Kumar Mahanta has urged people to participate in large numbers in the divine procession.
