Tributes paid to Kargil War heroes on the occasion of Vijay Diwas at Visakhapatnam

VISAKHAPATNAM: On the solemn occasion of 25th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Eastern Naval Command (ENC) conducted a Wreath Laying ceremony, on Friday (July 26) at War Memorial, RK Beach, in Visakhapatnam. Floral Wreaths were placed at 'Victory at Sea' War Memorial by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Chief of Staff. A 50 men Guard was paraded at the venue and two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the bravery and valour of the Indian soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. Wreaths were also placed by Shanka Brata Bagchi, Commissioner of Police, Visakhapatnam, Vice Adm VK Namballa (Retd) President Navy Foundation, Brigadier JK Barua, Wing Cdr P Shyam Kumar and G Satyananadam Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer

Kargil Vijay Diwas is commemorated on July 26 every year as a saga of gallantry and valour of a battle fought in the most inhospitable terrain in the World in the area of Kargil-Drass Sector of Ladakh. On this day the Indian Armed Force braving most difficult terrain, battling extreme weather conditions fought valiantly on the steep slopes of icy peaks with grit and valour thus defeating the evil designs of the enemy and throwing the intruders out from Indian Soil. The day commemorates our victory in Operation Vijay, which was a significant military victory over Pakistan during the Kargil War.

Sainik School Korukonda Pays Homage to Kargil Heroes

Sainik School Korukonda observed Kargil Vijay Diwas with solemn reverence and patriotic fervour. The day commenced with a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial by Principal Group Captain SS Shastri, followed by a poignant school assembly.

A moment of silence was observed by cadets, staff, and officers to honour the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the Kargil War.

Inspiring speeches by cadets ignited patriotic sentiments, followed by a thought-provoking documentary on the milestones of the Kargil War.
