VISAKHAPATNAM: Several IAS officers, including the district

collector

V Vinay Chand and joint collectors, have been affected by

Covid-19

as Visakhapatnam district has been recording over 2000 cases everyday. Officials monitoring the Covid care system in the district are testing positive.


IAS officers M Venugopal Reddy and Arun Babu are under isolation and joint collector Govinda Rao too has tested positive. It is to be noted that the district revenue officers and other higher officials in the revenue wing are recovering from Covid-19.

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) commissioner G Srijana tested positive four days ago and a few additional commissioners, besides other staff members, too tested positive.

“Many of our have employees tested positive. The medical staff, who are conducting the test and also the vaccination programme, are affected. With the available staff, we have been continuing the vaccination and other works without any hindrance,” GVMC commissioner Srijana said.

Joint collector Arun Babu, who is looking after Covid-19 related aspects, has reportedly tested positive for the second time. Venugopal Reddy went into isolation after one of his family members had shown symptoms of the virus. Venugopal had also tested positive last year.
