India, England Teams arriving in city today
Visakhapatnam: The loss and the poor show by India in the just concluded first Test against England might have dented the enthusiasm of cricket lovers to an extent but a good turnout of spectators is expected for the second Test to begin from February 2. One factor that would enthuse the locals is the presence of KS Bharat, wicketkeeper-batter in the Indian team and the fighting knock he played in the Hyderabad Test.
1x1 polls
Incidentally, Bharat is the only Andhra player to play in front of the home crowd in a Test or shorter forms of cricket representing India. The Indian and English teams are arriving here from Hyderabad by air on Tuesday afternoon for the second Test to be played at the ACA-VDCA stadium here from February 2. Meanwhile, ACA secretary SR Gopinath Reddy said arrangements for the match have been made. The ACA is allowing 2,000 students every day into the stadium to witness the match. Every student must carry his or her institution’s ID card to gain free entry into the stadium. Thus 10,000 students would witness the match during the five days. In addition, the ACA is providing free passes per day to 2,850 players representing various clubs in the State. A total of 14,250 players are going to get this benefit, he said. The ACA has also invited BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah to witness the match. They have confirmed their visit.
