Four ganja smugglers arrested

Vizag Rural police seized 168 kgs ganja and arrested four smugglers when they were making arrangements to transport the material in a four-wheeler at Pallavuru in Koyyuru mandal on Thursday.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Vizag Rural police seized 168 kgs ganja and arrested four smugglers when they were making arrangements to transport the material in a four-wheeler at Pallavuru in Koyyuru mandal on Thursday.
Those arrested were identified as Reddy Narasimha Murthy (28), Singampalli Sattibabu (50), Datla Ramaraju (56) of Vizag district and D Sandeep Kumar Khatik (28) of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

Koyyuru police station inspector R Mallikarjuna Rao told the media that Reddy Narasimha Murthy was involved in three ganja smuggling cases under Rolugunta police station limits and that Sattibabu was involved in one case under Narsipatnam police station limits.
The four accused procured the ganja from Chintapalli and stored it at Pallavuru. Acting on a tip-off, cops conducted a surprise raid and seized the contraband, a van, five mobile phones and Rs 1,500 in cash. However, one more accused T Venkateswara Rao escaped from the spot.
