Andhra Medical College (AMC) defeated General Insurance Corporation by eight wickets and captain N Srinivasa Reddy turned out an all-round show in VPSC’s eight-run win over Ship Building Centre in the VDCA institutions league (T20 matches) at the Port stadium here on Wednesday.
Srinivasa Reddy took three wickets in an over to help VPSC restrict SBC to 127 for eight in 20 overs.

Veteran ball badminton player honouredReputed veteran ball badminton player and winner of the prestigious State of India award for five years on the trot, Chukka Sadasiva Reddy received the lifetime achievement award from the Kridapipasi Sunkara Bhaskara Rao Sports and Games Research and Development Centre of Rajamahendravaram at his residence here on Tuesday evening. The organisation’s directors Sunkara Ranga Rao, Nagendra Kishore and Ashok Kumar presented the award to 83-year-old Sadasiva Reddy in Visakhapatnam as he could not go to Rajamahendravaram. Vice-president of the Ball Badminton Federation of India and general secretary of the Andhra Ball Badminton Association R Venkata Rao, Adinarayana and others were present. Sadasiva Reddy represented Andhra for 12 years in the National championship and helped the state win the National title five times and runners-up spot three times.
GMs chess tourneyThe Andhra Chess Association in association with the GITAM deemed to be university is organising the GITAM third Vizag Grand Masters international open chess tournament on the GITAM campus here from June 10 to 17. A poster on the tournament was released here on Wednesday by vice president M Venkaiah Naidu. Visakhapatnam hosted a GMs event in 2012 and players from 15 countries are expected to take part in this year’s tournament. The tournament will be held in A, B and C categories. The tournament carries a cash award of Rs 15 lakh for category A and Rs 5 lakh each for categories B and C.
