district has registered a
Covid-19 positivity rate
below 5% in the last 16 days, according to district collector J Nivas. On October 1, the district had 301 positive cases for 5,720 tests. On October 16, the district registered 108 new cases for 4,134 tests with a
positivity rate
of 2.61%.
The positivity rate hovered around 3.5% in the days in between. The positivity rate plummeted to 2.61% on Friday, the lowest since the imposition of the lockdown.
Speaking to TOI, district collector J Nivas said that the lowering of positivity rate was
possible
through collective efforts of the general public and officials. “However, we have to continue being careful and maintain our response till the pandemic vanishes completely,” Nivas added.
P Jaganmohan Rao, district president of
Indian Red Cross Society
said that bringing about awareness among 28 lakh people in a district with low literacy rate was a herculean task and the district administration has made all possible efforts to bring the pandemic under control.
