College gets UGC-Stride recognition
Visakhapatnam: Vignan’s Institute of Information Technology (VIIT) has been recognised under the University Grants Commission’s Stride (scheme for trans-disciplinary research for India’s developing economy) programme.
According to college authorities, VIIT is the only engineering institution across the nation to get the recognition. The UGC will support research activities at institutions selected under the scheme.

UGC called for the proposals under Stride scheme in October, 2019. A total of 35 organisations were selected under the scheme, including 16 aided universities, 18 aided colleges and one private college.
Speaking to the media, Dr Lavu Rathaiah, chairman of Vignan group said that VIIT has achieved this feat by fulfilling all guidelines of UGC-Stride. “The institution has already received recognition from ISO, NAAC and NBA. Now, the UGC-Stride recognition has added a feather on the cap,” Rathaiah said.
VIIT rector Dr V Madhusudhan Rao and CEO K Pavan Krishna appreciated the principal, dean-R&D and staff for their efforts in getting the recognition.
The rector announced that the institute is ready to spend Rs 1 crore under the scheme for research on social issues.
