Woman drowns, nephew rescued at RK Beach

Visakhapatnam: A 56-year-old woman, T Vasantha from Secunderabad, Telangana, drowned on Thursday evening while her nephew, Sai Krishna (35), was rescued by lifeguards. A 26-year-old man, Govind from Odisha, who attempted to save Vasantha, also drowned and remains missing. According to reports, Vasantha and Sai Krishna were in Vizag to attend a wedding and had gone to RK Beach for a casual splash in the sea.While in the water, they were caught in a strong current that dragged them deep.Seeing Vasantha struggle, Govind rushed to help but was swept away.Sai Krishna, though caught in the same current, was rescued by coastal security police and lifeguards and taken to King George Hospital for treatment. Police have launched a search operation for Govind.
