Vijayawada: Police have registered a complaint by a village revenue assistant (VRA) that she was cheated of ₹30 lakh by two men in Jaggaiahpet of NTR district.According to police, Yerramsetti Anjaneyulu and Garlapati Sairam promised to help the complainant, Malleswari, to get a government job after her husband, Chennavarpu Satyanarayana, died.Satyanarayana, a village revenue officer in Vatsavai tahsildar’s office, had died in 2019 while in service.B V Rama Rao, inspector, Jaggaiahpet, told TOI that while the woman got her husband’s gratuity and benefits of ₹10 lakh, the accused made her believe that only ₹1 lakh was received and the rest ₹9 lakh was pocketed by them.Malleswari was receiving a monthly pension of ₹18,000 after her husband’s demise and her salary was withdrawn by the accused but they gave her only ₹6,000 every month as salary.The accused also pledged the pension and salary slips of the victim and took a loan of ₹10 lakh from a private bank.The woman realised that she was being cheated when the bank approached her regarding loan repayment. Following this, she filed a complaint against the accused.
